Create Common Ground for Your Team
This foundational lecture series offers comprehensive, interactive sessions designed to deepen your understanding of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and experience how DEI is already present and relevant to the work you do daily.
Each lecture lasts 90 minutes, with 60 minutes of content followed by a 30-minute Q&A session, and can be conducted in-person or virtually. Within each Package, we will:
Cover key issues affecting you now.
Gain a thorough understanding of DEI concepts and their practical applications for the real world situations you’re facing.Hear from you and your team.
Engage in meaningful discussions and Q&A sessions tailored to your organization's needs.Learn from my real life experiences, and yours too.
Learn the foundations from me while also learning from each other’s lived experiences — while this is a lecture series, it’s still a relational engagement!
What’s included in this 90 minute session:
The ABCs of DEI
In this lecture, we review the foundations of DEI. What is diversity? What is inclusion? Why do we need both? Why is equity now added to the mix? Why does DEI increase innovation, productivity, and financial returns? Why is focusing only on our similarities not inclusive?
We'll also demystify bias, privilege, and microaggressions.
Finally, we'll briefly explore what it truly means to be an ally or an advocate, i.e. the difference between being non-discriminatory vs. anti-discriminatory.
Community Deep Dive
This lecture series offers a deep dive in to a community with which participants may be unfamiliar.
Each lecture will provide a brief historical overview of the segment’s experience in the US, a clarification of key terms related to that segment, a exploration of key cultural values of that community, examples of miscommunication or points of tension they often experience with the “dominant culture,” and some interactive scenarios where we’ll explore what it might be like to be a member of that community.
"
I had the privilege of participating in a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) workshop facilitated by Camille Leak, and the experience was nothing short of transformative.
Camille possesses a unique blend of expertise, empathy, and engaging communication skills that make the complex and often sensitive topics inclusive and impactful for everyone involved.
Camille creates a safe space where participants felt comfortable sharing their experiences and perspectives. Her ability to listen actively and validate diverse viewpoints fostered a sense of trust and openness, which is crucial for meaningful dialogue and learning. Her passion for fostering inclusive environments is evident in every aspect of her work."
